Intensify has been working with its client, Planet Rhinestone, for the last three years. Intensify led Planet Rhinestone’s transformation from its LA storefront into the largest online retailer of rhinestones, doing six-figures per month online.

Challenge

“The client was looking for its next avenue for growth” Alex Golick, CEO of Intensify told us. He explained that they already had great results on Meta Ads and Google Performance Max, but needed a new channel to continue to scale at the brand’s desired Cost Per Purchase. 

“Trying out new channels is always sensitive. Each one takes time, money, expertise, and iterations.  You usually need to try a few channels before finding one that works,” Golick explained. 

Planet Rhinestone had previously run limited tests on Snapchat, Pinterest, and Youtube, but decided years ago to concentrate on Meta & Google.

Solution

“To evaluate new channels in a data-driven way, we immediately went to Media Mix from Varos,” Golick said. 

Intensify uses Varos to find growth levers and underperforming areas for its ecommerce and SaaS clients. As a data-driven agency, Intensify leverages Varos’ Media Mix feature, which reveals exactly how other companies distribute spend across ad channels for every vertical. 

“We were able to filter specifically for Jewelry companies in Planet Rhinestone’s ad spend range, and could see exactly how they distribute spend across channels like TikTok, Meta Retargeting, Search, etc.”

Additionally, they could see CPMs, CPPs (Cost Per Purhcase), and more per placement across channels.

Results

In reviewing Media Mix data, it was clear that other jewelry companies were investing a significant percent of ad spend in Youtube, and that Youtube had low CPMs for jewelry companies at Planet Rhinestone’s size & media mix profile. 

This was a big clue. They had previously invested a half-hearted effort into Youtube, but armed with Media Mix data, they had the drive to activate Youtube as their next channel. 

After some iteration, Planet Rhinestone achieved 30% better results than in other placements, and now allocates ~5% of their budget on Youtube. They’ve also noticed an increase in branded search since starting this campaign.
